A copy of the fake National Registration Department (NRD) identity card (IC) registration form that went viral on social media yesterday reflected the desperation of some quarters to fish for votes in the upcoming 14th General Election.
Sabah Barisan Nasional(BN) Backbenches Chairman Datuk Abdul Rahim Ismail said the fake form, where applicants must vow to vote for the BN, was an attempt to smear the image of the coalition and ruling government.
“This is a clear attempt by some, and you know who you are, to mislead the people into thinking that the BN uses such tactics to win in the next election. The people should open their eyes and see who are the real culprits for using dirty and fear tactics, religion and character assassination to destabilize the BN,” he said in a statement here today.
Abdul Rahim, who is also Pantai Manis state assemblyman, said those responsible for the fake form were always scheming and plotting new ways to hoodwink the people into hating the BN and resorting to cheap tactics to accuse the BN of being dishonest in politics.
