The government is targeting to build 49,972 houses in the state under the Federal Government Pledge in five years since the 13th general election three years ago.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said from the total, 22,359 houses were to be built by 1Malaysia People Housing Corporation (PR1MA), 8,170 by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) and 19,443 by the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry (KKBPKT).
According to him, the total under construction were 4,531 units for PR1MA, 1,254 for SPNB and 3,095 for KKBPKT.
“From the total, SPNB completed 3,553 units and KKBPKT (4,140).
“While for those being planned, PR1MA will build 17,828 houses, SPNB (3,363) and KKBPKT (12,208) throughout the state,” he said in a media conference.
Joseph said the district was fortunate to have two public housing projects now under construction, namely PR1MA Borneo Cove with 999 units while 750 units would be built in Sandakan City Centre.
