-Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said today DAP liked to make a mountain out of a molehill when it publicised its trivial projects.
Kurup, who is Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president and the MP for Pensiangan, said the opposition political party would publicly promote its small project as a mega one that could overcome all the problems of the people.
“The people should not be fooled by this tactic,” Kurup said at a ‘gotong-royong’ project to repair houses in Kampung Panagatan Laut and Kampung Panagatan Ulu in Keningau.
Kurup said the DAP leaders were trying to poison the minds of the people into denying support for the Barisan Nasional.
He dismissed as untrue allegations that the BN government had not done anything to solve the people’s problems, including providing water supply in the interior areas.
The government, he said, had developed the gravity flow water supply system at Sungai Mayor, Sook, at a cost of RM380,000 to benefit the villages of Sodomon, Panoi, Mailo, Marasak and Marapok on the Transpegalan coast.
He said the DAP claim that it had overcome the water supply problem of about 1,000 villagers of Kampung Magatang with spring water did not make sense because such supply could not meet the demand of 1,000 consumers and it was also not safe for consumption.
As such, Kurup advised the people on the Transpegalan coast to unite and reject the opposition party which he claimed manipulated the facts to confuse the people there.
Kurup also said that the BN government which is helm by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had allocated RM1 million to repair 100 houses in the Pensiangan parliamentary constituency, with the programme being coordinated by the Rukun Tetangga Sector at a cost of RM10,000 per house.
