Tan Sri Joseph Kurup vowed to continue using his political career to the maximum possible in serving the people towards raising their standard of living.
Kurup said, as the member of Parliament for Pensiangan, much of the development that he had initiated was for the convenience and comfort of the people.
For example, he said, the 65km stretch of tarred road costing RM105 million and linking Keningau-Nabawan-Sepulut and Keningau Sinua had changed the landscape of the people’s lives in the region.
“The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has also built a health clinic of hospital standard in Nabawan, besides a sports complex equipped with a running track to improve the performance of athletes in rural areas,” he said today.
Kurup said the BN government had also allocated RM1 million to finance repairs to 100 houses throughout the Pensiangan constituency which was conducted in a gotong-royong manner.
“This proves the BN government’s sincerity in helping the people to improve their living standard,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kurup, who is also United Sabah People’s Party (PBRS) president, reminded the people to avoid getting caught up with racial politics brought by the opposition as it could affect race relations and threaten unity.
“It (racial politics) can be a great tragedy that can split the races if left unchecked, we have a responsibility to put an end to all this,” he said.
