Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today expressed the possibility of contesting either the Parliamentary constituency of Langkawi, Kubang Pasu or Putrajaya in the 14th General Election to be held soon.
“I may contest in any one of the three constituences. They’re telling me that I’ve a good chance of winning in Langkawi, Kubang Pasu or Putrajaya.
“So be ready for that,” he told reporters after delivering his winding up speech at the first general assembly of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) in Shah Alam.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir, who is also chairman of PPBM, said the party had decided to sever all ties with PAS in terms of establishing political collaboration.
“Unless the PAS members leave the party and join any Pakatan Harapan coalition party including PPBM, they are welcome,” he said.
Commenting on a news portal report that claimed he was making efforts to get the agreement of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to save his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir’s political career, Dr Mahathir denied the matter.
The report, among others, stated that the agreement called for Najib to appoint Mukhriz as Deputy Prime Minister II before the GE14 and to give him a cabinet post, whether as the Finance Minister, Home Minister or Defence Minister.
In return, Dr Mahathir purportedly would stop attacking Najib and would no longer be together with the Pakatan Harapan, according to the report.
