PKR President Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, expressed regret that there will be no straight fights in the upcoming June by-elections in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar.

The PKR President claimed the party had worked hard to ensure straight fights in the two by-elections.

At the same time, she admitted that there were those taking the opportunity afforded by the by-elections to pit the party leadership against each other.

“They have even sunk to accusing the Selangor Government,” Wan Azizah said in a statement today.

“However, the PKR leadership and I, including that in Selangor, will not be caught by efforts to use the media to shift the people’s focus from UMNO-Barisan Nasional’s scandal-ridden and deviant leadership, and their burdensome policies.”

“Our only political enemies are UMNO-Barisan Nasional.”

Meanwhile, in a press conference, Kedah PAS Women’s wing has recommended that the party review its tahalluf siyasi or political cooperation with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in future elections.

The motion brought up by its deputy chief Salamiah Mohd Noor was supported by delegates without debate at the 56th PAS Women’s wing general assembly here, today.

In the motion, it was pointed out that PKR had been disrespectful towards PAS when the party formed a coalition with Parti Amanah Negara (AMANAH) and had clearly accused and made various allegations and slander about PAS.

Salamiah said the motion was brought up following several actions taken by PKR including during the recent Sarawak state election.

Salamiah said the motion would be brought up to the Ulama Syura Council for follow-up action.
