Warisan’s Peter Anthony “Surrenders”, Gives Statement To MACC

Parti Warisan Sabah Vice-President Peter Anthony arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office in Kota Kinabalu to give a statement in connection with an investigation into the purchase of an oil palm plantation valued at about RM155 million in the Tongod district of Sabah.

Peter arrived at the MACC office at 10.25 am accompanied by his lawyer Martin Tommy and Loretto Padua Jr.

At 1.20 pm, Peter came out in handcuffs, accompanied by several MACC officers, was driven in a Perodua Alza to his house in Luyang to collect some documents.

“We are going to my home,” he said when asked where they were taking him.

An MACC statement on Wednesday gave Peter Anthony, 48 hours to turn himself in to facilitate investigation into a RM155 million land purchase in Tongod district in central Sabah.

Also wanted was local lawyer Michael Persius Ubu, said to be a lawyer representing RISDA.

It is not known whether Michael had given his statement to the MACC today.

Peter Anthony was arrested by MACC in October last year when he was investigated over the alleged embezzlement of federal funds meant for rural Sabah projects.

He was among 13 people, including Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who were arrested and eventually freed on a MACC bail.
